Dr Sarah Casey

President

Dr Sarah Casey is the President for the Australian Women’s and Gender Studies Association. Sarah has held roles as Secretary, Vice-President, Post-Graduate and Communication representative on the AWGSA committee. She is Discipline Lead in Communication, University of the Sunshine Coast. She has led several projects exploring the lived experiences of rural and regional women, and is regularly invited to provide opinion to government and media about issues such as innovative solutions for women’s economic security due to conditions such as long-term drought. Sarah leads a series of projects called ‘Stories of Country Women’. She is the co-author of two academic books and is published in high-ranking journals. Sarah is committed to advocacy and collective activism. She spent many years in industry before becoming an academic.
