Dr Sarah Casey (she/her) is Senior Lecturer in Communication in the School of Business and Creative Industries at University of the Sunshine Coast. She is the co-author of Media and Society (2016), and Hashtag Feminisms: Australian media feminists, activism, and digital campaigns (2023). Her next book with Rose Barrowcliffe, Gail Crimmins, Tara Brabazon and Jacqueline Ewart, Rural, Regional and Remote women: Power, Communication and Advocacy (Palgrave) is due to be released in late 2023. Sarah leads a number of projects creating micro documentaries and podcasts including the Real Rural Women’s Leadership project. Sarah is the current Secretary (2021-) and has been the Vice-President (2018-2021) of AWGSA. She is also the co-editor (with Dr Gail Crimmins) of the forthcoming revision of Outskirts: Feminisms along the edge which has been renamed for its 2024 launch as Feminisms, Gender, and Advocacy.
